The following is a list of sentient species first introduced in media pertaining to or set during the High Republic (including comics, novels, short stories, visual guides, and even the Acolyte television series). Some species have received illustrations, which means they will also receive their own individual article. Select the species’ corresponding image to take you to that article (if it has already been written). If they don’t have an illustration yet, a simple bio of the species will appear on this page. As we receive more images and visuals regarding the High Republic, some of these species may gain an article, so make sure to check back regularly for more updates!
Aesop
Bio: We currently have no physical description of the Aesop. We do, however, know that during the High Republic era, they were at one time a potential ally of the Twi’leks, another new species known as the Wyguay, and one final species that was neither described or named.
Andon Host
Bio: Little is known about the Andon Host, aside from the fact that they may have still been alive during the High Republic era but were extinct by the fall of the Jedi. They were a sentient race native to the planet Malenko who were strong with the Dark Side of the Force and Magick, even rumored to be necromancers with the strength to raise the dead on their homeworld of Malenko.
Argoban
Bio: Like the Vumans, it is currently unclear whether the Argoban are a species or simply a group. We have no physical description, and only know the Argobans often kidnapped young Aloxians, potentially serving as one of their greatest enemies. This entry will be updated and/or deleted as more information is revealed.
Bio: A massive simian species fairly similar to real-world orangutans, though they could speak… sort of, and had two pairs of eyes.
Barmbat’s Species

Bio: It’s currently difficult to tell what’s up with the species’ head given the signature Nihil helmet, however, we do know they have light pink or lilac skin, much lighter than seen on your average Zeltron.
Cabuck’s Species

Bio: A large species with green and tan, coarse skin and brown hair, as well as wideset eyes, wide mouths, and large three-fingered hands.
Bio: A blue, rounded frog-like species with squinted eyes and a string of lobes running from the center of their face, up over, and down the back of their head. They also had wide mouths with large lips and seemingly long tongues.
Crulkon

(ARTICLE UNAVAILABLE)
Dowaaka
Bio: The Dowaaka were a race of sentient, presumably bipedal, reptilians found in certain parts of the galaxy. They had the capacity to speak Galactic Basic, although no additional description, physical or otherwise, has been given so far. They were revealed in a web novel exclusive to China, so most casual High Republic readers will never come across this species.
Dragon People
Bio: We currently know nothing about the Dragon People. They may be Human, or they may be a near-Human species, so until a distinction is made (if one ever is) they are staying on this list. They were mentioned in the same Chinese High Republic Web Novel, “The Vow of the Silver Dawn,” as the Dowaaka, another new species to Star Wars.
Dwint Parsopalton’s Species

Bio: A fairly Humanoid species with reddish skin and an elongated head, though their eyes also seemed unique with oval green pupils.
Elia-An
Bio: N/A
Emmerian*
Bio: A number of species on this list actually share a names with obscure species from Star Wars Legends who were often mentioned once or twice in random book. In the Emmerians case, they were only briefly referenced in the “‘Elusive’ — No Disintegrations” RPG sourcebook. They were potentially the creators of the first “walkers” that would later be adopted by the majority of the galaxy, although this was never expanded upon. And, at least according to their Legends lore, they were the direct descendants of Humans and still bore some resemblance.
In Canon, it is unclear if the species is intended to share any similarities. Unfortunately we have yet to be given any physical description or origins have been given yet. They have only been referenced in “The High Republic: The Rising Storm,” but there is a chance we will see more of them soon, especially among the ranks of the Nihil.
Enami
Bio: Bipedal humanoids covered in a layer of brown that also had colorful speckles engrained, losing all color and turning white as they grew older. We know they had gray eyes, and spoke a language known as “Enamese.” Native to the planet Ena, they were a slave species to the Hutts during the height of the High Republic era.
E’roni
Bio: Currently, the E’roni were for sure a name for the people who lived on the planet E’ronoh, however, many of these “E’roni” were immigrated species such as Lasat or Pantorans. There still seems to have been a native species dwelling their prior that also went by this name, but any additional details surrounding them remain unknown.

Fetilian
Bio: N/A
“First Pilgrim’s” Species

Bio: Tall, blue humanoids with wiry yet muscular frames, long, bald heads, and reddish hair on their sideburns, which is very reminiscent of the Tammuz-an.
Forshul
Bio: This was a sentient species found in the galaxy that were covered in long, gray hairs. They may have been based off of a sentient species of the same name in Star Wars Legends, although those Forshul were described as being covered in shaggy greenish-blue hair, with long faces and loud voices. Neither Forshul have ever received an official illustration.
Frizznoth
Bio: The Frizznoth have slowly been popping up in Star Wars Canon, and they finally got a physical description in “The High Republic: Tempest Runners.” They were described as being short, potentially a dwarf species, with grayish-green skin and yellow eyes. They may have been able to speak Galactic Basic, but their primary language was called Frizznothese.
Frong
Bio: The Frong technically originated in the “aftermath” trilogy, although they have really received the spotlight within The High Republic. They originated from an Outer Rim planet also named Frong. The were bipedal, with blue skin and large, glossy black eyes. They had prehensile tubes on their face that curled and twitched to display their emotions, most noticeable when Frongs were stressed or afraid. They also had suction cups on their forearms.
They were within Republic space, and spoke Galactic Basic. The Frongs were considered a lesser species by much of the galaxy, known only for their spices, inbreeding, and inability to defend themselves. However, they were eventually brought into the folds of the New Republic and offered protection and services.

Bio: While originally believed to be a new member of Yoda’s Species, it was later confirmed that Jedi Master Griswal was in fact a new but similar diminutive species. They were a very small species, with large eyes, big pointed ears, and green-gray skin. The only known instance of this species, Griswal, was Force Sensitive , although it’s unsure if that was common among this species or not.
Halisite
Bio: N/A
Bio: As with the Emmerians, Krantians, and Thodians, the Hassarians did exist in Star Wars Legends, being briefly referenced in the novel “Tyrant’s Test.” However, because we learned almost nothing about them back then, it is unclear if the species that appears in The High Republic media is intended to be the same or they just happen to share a name.
That being said, our original description of the Hassarians in the High Republic is that they were humanoids with “willowy” frames, lilac hair on their bodies, and the presence of long snouts, most likely somewhere between a Kubaz snout and an Onodone snout in length. They also had a fierce rivalry with the “Skembo” species, which is featured further down on this page.
Harandish

Heliko
Bio: N/A
Hintian
Bio: N/A
H’Tar’s Species

Bio: A pale, ghoulish humanoid species with most unsettling eyes.
Ibbe/Ibbeet
Bio: We currently have no real description, though do know they were a peaceful species who believed in pursuing perfect harmony with their homeworld, also known as Ibbe.
Bio: The “Junk Mavens” were a group of presumed scrappers, not to be confused with the “Trash Keepers,” made up of an unidentified avian race. These were diminutive bird-people with long yellow beaks, bodies cover in blue feathers, and long tufts of hair-like feathers extending from the backs of their heads like pony tails. They had five-fingered hands with sharp talons and yellow, scaly, chicken-like feet with three toes each. They also may have had sensitive eyes. The Junk Mavens could speak Galactic Basic, and were found exclusively on the moon of Quantxi, which might have been the species’ homeworld as well.
Bio: A wrinkled, brown species with gangly features, claw-like hands, and thin necks. They also had green pigmentation around their lips and eyes, as well as a single plume of green hair protruding from the top of their head.
Katikoot

(ARTICLE UNAVAILABLE)
Bio: Katikoots were described as a bat-like species. They were humanoid in nature, with brown skin covered by a thin layer of brown fur. They were once a subterranean species with the ability to fly, however, as of the High Republic era their wings were seemingly no longer strong enough to carry them and so they considered themselves flightless. Katikoots spoke a whistling language that may have once assisted in echolocation, however, they could also pronounce Galactic Basic fairly proficiently. They were native to the planet Gloam prior to a mining incident that unleashed a terrible zombie-like plague, wiping out much of the planet’s population. The survivors fled to the neighboring planet of Aubadas where they made themselves home, eventually losing much of their early history and identity.
Kerk
Bio: There is currently no physical description of the Kerk, nor any established lore, although it’s possible they were intended to be the same as the Kerkoiden.
Kessarine
Bio: Kessarines were seemingly an aquatic species, bearing smooth skin, webbed fingers, and frills on their cheeks. Males and females were outwardly distinguished by the number of tails they possessed, with females only sporting a single large tail, while males had numerous. Kessarine young were genderless at birth, only becoming gaining (or not gaining) the ability to bear eggs at a specific age during which they matured. Kessarines seemed to have some control over which they would become, supposedly willing the outcome if their resolve was strong enough. Still, statistically the chances that an adult Kessarine would gain the ability to produce eggs was lower than 50%. Kessarines spoke a language also known as “Kessarine,” and while they could pronounce Galactic Basic, many of their words and concepts were very difficult to translate, such as how they viewed maturity and gender.
Kexing
Bio: N/A
Kilotowan
Bio: The only thing we really know about the Kilotowan were that they were entirely pink, both in skin and hair. They were also described as having gentle-peaked ears, which is incredibly vague at best.
Krantian*
Bio: Krantian was the name of a sentient species first introduced in Star Wars Legends thanks to “Galactic Battlegrounds,” although it is unclear whether or not they are intended to be the same as the Krantians we read about in the High Republic (although there’s a fair amount of evidence to suggest that they are). In Canon, they are described as humanoids with pale skin. Similarly, in Legends they are described as a race of near-Humans with solid white skin with the added detail that they had “ultrasound speaking capabilities.” Additionally, the original Krantians came from the planet Krant, while in Canon their homeworld has yet to be revealed.
Krogger Sheem’s Species

Bio: A hairless, green humanoid species with a flattened nose ridge, Shrek-like ears, and fangs protruding from both jaws
Kuranu
Bio: The Kuranu were a sentient humanoid possessing smooth, clear purple skin and pupil-less eyes, presumably white. The entire species was comprised of germaphobes, although to what extend, we do not know. Their physical description actually sounds somewhat similar to the Chiss.

Loongren
Bio: N/A
Malangsha

(ARTICLE UNAVAILABLE)
Medoslean
Bio: The Medosleans were a mysterious species taking on the appearance of a large jellyfish, potentially .5 to 1 meter wide and possessing many tentacles or “fronds.” It would appear that the Republic didn’t have a lot of records surrounding them, as the knowledge that they were allergic to some commonplace drugs seemingly did not exist.
Mizi
Bio: Mizi are described as having long noses, lanky arms, and spindly fingers, although whether they were bipedal or quadrupedal has yet to be revealed. While we currently don’t know what their homeworld is, apparently it is incredibly irradiated as they have a natural immunity to radiation. The Mizi refused to share their name with any non-Mizi, and were generally closed off and reclusive. They also had a violent rivalry with the Orincan species.
Oisinian
Bio: N/A
Okoro’s Species

Bio: A near-Human species with olive skin and pink portions around their cheeks, nose, and lips. They also had tan hair they seemingly grew on only one spot on top of their head, though their facial hair was instead black in coloration.
Ootoo

(ARTICLE UNAVAILABLE)
Orincan
Bio: The Orincans were said to resemble a pale, pink Gamorrean with pig-like features and a rotund build. They were much more technologically advanced than their fellow species, the Mizi, for which they shared a rivalry that often resulted in violence.
Bio: Potentially a felinoid species such as the Togorians, Ovarto’s species were over 2 meter tall tiger-like sentients with hulking frames and primarily orange fur.
Pipyyrian
Bio: We already have a fairly descriptive idea of what the Pipyyrians or Pipyyr look like. They were described as “shorter than a Wookiee,” and while we weren’t given an exact height, the context presumably means between Human and Wookiee height. They had long limbs, and were covered in a thick layer of fur that could range on a scale from stark white to gray to solid black. They also had visible fangs and were seemingly rather intimidating.

Bio: Darth Krall’s species was large and muscular, with sharp claws and pale purple or gray, coarse skin. They had large, founded heads with flat noses, jagged teeth, pointed teeth, and long, dark hair. It’s possible they could be canine in nature given their appearance, though this has never been confirmed.
Bio: This species was incredibly small and thin, standing only around one foot (.3 meters) in height. They had tan skin and large facial features such as their eyes, mouth, and ears, though no visible nostrils.
Ran Yaltan’s Species

Bio: This was a pale, almost yellow near-Human species with bright green eyes and thick black hair. Ran also had darkened markings on their face and black fingernails, though these could be the result of makeup and not a natural feature of the species.
Reeman
Bio: We currently know nothing about the Reeman’s phsyical appearance, only that they were sentient and hailed from the planet Katarr. We also technically do not know how their name officially spelled, although it is more than likely “Reeman” as shown above.
Safrifan
Bio: Safrifan were strange sentient swamp creatures native to the marshy world of Safrifa. They were believed to be at least semi-aquatic, and had large, oval eyes potentially resembling eggs. Their long hair resembled pond weeds, and their skin color was the same as the stagnant water of Safrifa, granting them incredible natural camouflage. They were hard workers and proficient farmers, but generally rather reclusive.

Sarumo’s Native Species

Bio: This fleshy race was fairly Human-like, with the same general height and build as the average Human, though they were almost entirely hairless, save for their capacity to grow bushy mustaches and beards. With skin that could range from tan to pink, they also had elongated heads and growths on each side in place of visible ears/aural cavities. They also had unique eyes which were solid black, save for a cross shaped white pattern with a small red or pink dot in the center. Sarumo came under control of the Nihil during their reign of terror, cut off from their Republic allies after being placed within the Occlusion Zone. The planet would become a base of operations for their new oppressors thanks to the personal efforts of both Marchion Ro and Abediah Viess.
Skembo
Bio: The Skembo were a diminutive species potentially anteater-like in nature. They had short, stubby legs and a lengthy prehensile tongue used capture insects and other sources of food. They were a part of the Galactic Republic, but shared an intense rivalry with the Hassarians, who may have also been a part of the Republic/Senate.
Sledfrid
Bio: N/A
Tai’ni
Bio: N/A
Bio: The Taymar were a humanoid species, potentially semi-near-Human in nature. From what what we know, they had sparkling blueish-green skin, almost glittery in appearance. They had tendrils extending from somewhere on their body, potentially protruding from their heads. They had 4+ arms, the exact number yet to be revealed. They had the ability to float or levitate for extended periods of time, although by what means we have no idea. And some Taymar were known for having beautiful, melodic voices, making them popular as singers or musicians. (Outdated)

“The Warden’s” Species

Bio: First thought to be a strange Katikoot, the Warden is a humanoid bat-like being with tan skin and a muscular frame. They had what appeared to be furry faces, especially around their chin, with gaping maws surrounded by fleshy teeth, as well as a single, traingular nostril, bright pink eyes, and massive, pointed ears that were also pink on the inside.
Thodian*
Bio: The Thodians were one of the species on this list that technically may have originated in Star Wars Legends. At the very least, a species named the Thodians were referenced once in Star Wars in the novel “Shield of Lies.” No description was ever given regarding this species, so it’s impossible to draw ties outside of the name and sentient status. In the High Republic, we at least learn that the Canon iteration of the Thodians are humanoid and possess “blunt faces,” however you want to interpret that.
Tolemite
Bio: N/A
Tox’s Species

Bio: Tox and his family belonged to a near-Human species who all possessed pale grayish-blue skin and dark blue hair.
Tunguray
Bio: Tungurays were a diminutive, muscular humanoid species that stood no more than a meter tall and hailed from a volcanic world of the same name. They had a high resistance to heat, great strength for their size, stubby, furry knuckles, and had the capacity to pronounce Galactic Basic, albeit with a thick, unique accent.
Bio: First thought to be some sort of avian-like being, it’s not very possible this is actually a female Kajain’sa’Nikto given their recent appearances. At the very least, they had a segmented head covered in fleshy spikes, as well as a number of hair-like lobes hanging from the back.
Unidentified Fish Species 1

Bio: A humanoid fish-like race with a varied race of skin colors and the ability to both swim and walk proficiently, leading to uniquely structured cities possessing both canals and walkways.
Bio: A bald, near-Human species with coarse, hairless, green skin. They had rounded heads, solid yellow eyes with a seemingly craggily appearance, exposed nostril openings, and a rounded aural cavity opening as opposed to true ears. While we don’t know their true world, a number of them had settled Daivak by the mid High Republic era, though these colonists were eventually purged by hostile Drengir who had also come to call the planet their home.
Bio: This green species had thin features and stood around the same height as the average Human, They had narrow faces with sunken eyes and a number of spiked lobes dangling around from the top of their heads.

Bio: This species was very Human-like, though they had seemingly wider faces and pale, green skin. They had amassed some sort of powerful, advanced militia by the tail end of the High Republic, and seemingly came into conflict with the Galactic Republic. They are one of two species who may be called the “Zaraan.”
Unidentified Green Species 4

Bio: This near-Human species had thick brown hair, dark green skin, pointed ears, horizontal, black pupils, two pairs of upturned nostrils, and a naturally downturned mouth.

Bio:
Unidentified Horned Species 1

Bio: This near-Human species has been mistaken for a Devaronian in the past, however, there are currently far too many differences to say for sure (though The Bad Batch Season 3 may have made it slightly more possible). They had light blue skin with darker symmetrical patches on their face, as well as blueish-green hair. Their eyes were a solid pink or purple, and they had two, long, curved horns protruding outward and upward from their foreheads.
Bio: This humanoid race had fleshy, hairless bodies, with rounded heads, large, solid black eyes, pointed ears, and a number of Iridonian-like small, white horns protruding from the top of their skull, two larger than the others. They may have also required the use of some sort of breathing apparatus.
Unidentified Horned Species 3

Bio: Though currently difficult to discern, this humanoid species seemingly has a long, light green face, with sunken eyes and a downward curving snout that was covered in small indents, not unlike the Kubaz. They also had long, snaggled horns that curved downwards from the sides of their head.
Unidentified Horned Species 4

Bio: Little is know about this species, as the one we’ve seen is seemingly skeletal, although the exposed nostril could just be a natural feature. They had white eyes, potentially requiring both protective goggles and a breathing apparatus, with a pair of hooked horns curving down from the sides of their skull.
Unidentified Horned Species 5

Bio: A large pale blue and tan humanoid species with what appear to be yellow eyes and almost handlebar-like brown horns.
Unidentified Humanoid Species 1

Bio:
Unidentified Humanoid Species 2

Bio: This Yacombe representative was a Human-passing species, who, if we weren’t expressly told belonged to an unknown species, I would just assume was Human. From what we cane see, they had the same features as Humans, though most of their body remains obscured. They had pale skin and purple irises within their eyes, those these irises can be chalked up to their Dark Side-based Yacombe powers, a trait shared among all members of the cult.
Unidentified Humanoid Species 3

Bio: What appears to be a near-Human species, with solid black eyes, and tan skin covered in vertical grayish-blue stripes.
Unidentified Insectoid Species
Bio: This insectoid species was tannish-yellow in coloration, with segmented body parts, including stacked plating on their torsos, as well as what appeared to be opened holes around their waists. Their heads were long, with large black eyes, two pairs on dots extending up the sides of their foreheads, cheek-plates that extended out in downward facing points, and strange mouths consisting of what appeared to be snaggled white teeth protruding from their chin, not too dissimilar from the Draethos.
Unidentified Lekku Species

Bio: These colorful near-Humans were very similar in appearance to Twi’leks, with colorful skin that’s been observed as at least being either red or green. The biggest difference, however, was the fact that they possessed one large lekku, nearly as long as their entire body, as opposed to the two shorter ones Twi’leks are shown to normally possess.
Unidentified Lobed Species

Bio: This species almost looked avian in nature, though it’s hard to say for sure. Regardless, they were bipedal, with two arms ending in large hands. Their hairless heads were large, with small mouths, reddish eyes, a bulging nose-ridge, overlapping cheek flaps, and what appeared to be five, almost pinecone-looking lobes extending out from the upper back portion of their head, with their flesh primarily being dark green, only growing more orange and eventually gradienting into yellow around their nose and the aforementioned “lobes.”
Unidentified Long-Necked Species

Bio: Though we cannot see much of this species, we do at least know they had two arms ending in large, three fingered hands, as well as an elongated neck. The species had brown, wrinkled skin, possibly covered in small hairs. Their heads were angular, with two psuedo-eyestalks, what appeared to be a pair of nostrils slits situated between their eyes at the center of their forehead, and a long snout ending in a rounded mouth. They also may have had an extendible proboscis used to slurp up liquids, though it has also been pointed out that this may just be a noodle.
Unidentified Masked Species 1

Bio: A rather bizarre, small species wearing a unique steel-looking mask with the appearance of a face. This mask has a few distinct features, including two red-lensed goggles, a red globe extending from the mouth area containing some sort of liquid, and two small holes on either side of the orb which may assist with breathing. The creature spoke a currently unidentified alien language.
Unidentified Multi-Legged Species 1

Bio: A fleshy species with at least a dozen, tube-like legs ending in ten or so toes, with orange skin, large torsos, and a rounded head with small eyes and toothy mouths.
Unidentified Orange Species

Bio: This alien species had mottled orange skin, covered in light lines and dark spots. They had webbed hands and tiny fingernails. They also had had massive heads with elongated faces, including a mouth perched at the bottom surrounding by four or five pointed fleshy lobes. They also had large, glassy, solid black eyes which were seemingly opened at all times, lacking eyelids and incapable of blinking. There were also a number of short, rounded, tube-like growths sprouting from the upper and back sides of their head, extending outwards in various directions.
Unidentified Tan Species

Bio: This diminutive species had tan flesh, but was mostly covered in tan fur that grew thickest around their head, though their two-toed feet, three-fingered hands, and faces remained exposed. They had long heads with wide, angular heads that consisted primarily of large black pupils. They had exposed, outward-turned nostrils, and two thin growths extending up and back from the top of their head that were either ears of some sort of antennae-like extrasensory organs.
Unidentified Tentacled Species

Bio: A hulking, hairless species with large appendages and a shark-like head, with a dark smooth cranium, wide mouth, and beady eyes. They are capable of peeling back the middle portion of the top of their head and extend a powerful tentacle that can grow to be at least twice their height in length.
Varovian

Vuman

(ARTICLE UNAVAILABLE)
Bio: The Vumans fall into strange category, as they may be a near-Human species or simply a group or sub-culture of Humans. The distinction has been ill defined, but they are at the very list a distinguished group who often act together.
Vuundalla’s Native Species

Bio: VERY similar to Zeltrons in appearance, this near-Human species had pinkish skin and purple or blue hair, with bright violet irises as well. They were the ruling species of Vuundalla, and, while generous and relatively peaceful, one of their members, the prince no less, also posed as the infamous pirate “Taborr Val Dorn,” wreaking havoc across the galaxy and coming into conflict with the Jedi Order.
Warryn’s Species

Bio: A near-Human species with rounded features and reddish-pink skin. They seemed hairless save for their eyebrows, and had a number of squared-off fleshy lobes hanging down around the sides and back of their head.
Wosceron
Bio: N/A
Wyguay
Bio: We currently have no physical description of the Wyguay. We do, however, know that during the High Republic era, they were at one time a potential ally of the Twi’leks, another new species known as the Aesop, and one final species that was neither described or named.
Zaraan
Bio: A mysterious yet powerful race who have perched themselves as a major enemy of the Galactic Republic shortly prior to the end of the High Republic era. Though their appearance has not been specified, we have been given a look at two species, one of which is the Zaraan and one of which is not, though we can’t discern the correct answer at the moment (see “Unidentified Green Species 3” & “Unidentified Gray Species” above.)
Zekodoan

Zervo’s Species

Bio: An indiscriminate felinoid species who some fans staunchly claim is a Togorian, though I believe they bear many more similarities to the Trianii.
