DAY 103 UPDATES: Daniel José Older did quote this tweet, but simply included the following message. Coromont Vizzle was also featured in the 2023 “Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia,” though his species was specifically listed as “Unknown,” meaning he likely does not belong to an established race, and may not have even had a name in the Holocron database at that point.
SPECIES: (still unidentified)
DAY 104 UPDATES: The article I made via the relatively new 3D CGI video game species notability policy: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Cy_Yunga%27s_species.

DAY 105 UPDATES: Article I did for this one: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_four-eyed_lobed_species.
SPECIES: (still unidentified)
DAY 106 UPDATES: Later came across this species’ concept art, designed by Ivan Manzella for “Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.” Lots of species I made articles for in a row: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_fleshy-flap-faced_species.
SPECIES: (still unidentified)
DAY 107 UPDATES: I am considering including the pilot species in their own entry someday (I eventually did almost two years later on Day 693).
SPECIES: (still unidentified)
DAY 108 UPDATES: Paolo Villanelli Quoted this tweet with a bit of extra insight regarding this species’ conception, as seen below, including revealing they’re native to Kullgroon. I also had the opportunity to create the Wookieepedia page for this species a few years after this initial tweet: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Batalla%27s_species!

DAY 111 UPDATES: Ending up creating a Wookieepedia page for this one a few years later that better summarized every known bit of information surrounding this species: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_mandible_species!
SPECIES: Lonto
DAY 112 UPDATES: A while back, this character’s name was later revealed to be Susalee, however, no additional information was revealed at that time. Some time later, Cavan Scott revealed in a Twitter/X thread (specifically under a Quote he made of a different tweet in the series, Day 352: Anst Wozo’s Species/our first Canon Inleshat), that her title as a “Lonto Representative” was in reference to her species and NOT a religious organization as with most of the other members in the meeting where she was first introduced (it’s still possible Lonto is both a species and a group)!
Additional members of the species, including a prominent one named Lycos, also appeared throughout THR media (as seen above), many of whom have had different colorization.

DAY 116 UPDATES: So first off, Jake Lunt Davies commented to help identify the original concept artist as Louis Wiltshire.
The actor who portrayed Lazu also identified herself as Charlotte Louise. She provides additional tidbits of info about the character/species from time-to-time, although so far it’s not been anything noteworthy enough to warrant an update to the post. Still worth following along with just in case!
Finally, I mistakenly featured this species on both Day 116 and Day 126. This scheduling error caused a bit of confusion and forced me to change how I catalogued and recorded each species I’ve both already posted about, as well as the list of ones in need of posts. Fortunately I caught it pretty early on and reissued a new species post for Day 126, however, it messed up the order of posts a bit so you may notice some scrambled dates later on.
This is also one of the many live action species I made an article for: http://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Lazu_Lirona%27s_species.

DAY 119 UPDATES: Andres Ponce (@Starmanfrombey1) Quoted the tweet and tagged Titan Comics, however, did not really add any additional context.

DAY 120 UPDATES: So this species received quite the surprising update, although a lot of this information actually came out years before I even made the initial tweet here, so I have no clue how I missed it all. But pretty much, the short story is that this minor background character was portrayed by Dominic Pace, an avid Star Wars fan and prominent member of the 501st Legion cosplay charity group. After his short stint on the Mandalorian was finished, Dominic took this character and it’s appearance and created the bounty hunter Gekko, unofficially named by The Mandalorian makeup artist Brian Sipe (and I suppose we can attribute Brian, and to an extent Dominic, as the species’ creators).

Within various spheres of the fandom, Gekko began to rise quite a bit in popularity, gaining established “lore” and a whole lot of fanart. In fact, Dominic collaborated with various other artists and writers to have an issue of a Gekko comic published (which looks incredible but is currently far too expensive for me to get my hands on) and sold them with the proceeds going to charity. Since then, Gekko’s fame among the Star Wars community has only grown, with various artworks, 3D models, and custom action figures and LEGOs being created, as well as collectible coins, street art, and even Gekko tattoos popping up among his cult following. Last we heard there was a push to make the name official, and possibly to officially retcon his supposed “death” in The Mandalorian Chapter 3, just as was done in the Gekko comic.

With all of this constant attention, I do believe we will see more of this character and/or species someday soon, and when we do, we can only hope that the species will finally be named so that they can be more easily referenced in strictly written media! I have also been informed that the generally accepted name for Gekko’s species is the “Shaaradin,” although I’m not entirely sure of the name’s origin, whether it came from the comic, Dominic, or some other fan-made source. Unfortunately I won’t be sharing anymore of the incredible fanart here, but I included many of them in a Twitter/X thread that others have helped me attribute, so you can click on the image below to go to said thread!
Had the pleasure of being able to create the Wook article for this one, which I hope is someday soon renamed with an official ID: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_black-and-white_species.
SPECIES: (still unidentified)
DAY 121 UPDATES: This species reappeared in Andor Season 2 where we got a surprising reveal regarding their true height, which is comically short. And Ivan Manzella also identified himself as the species’ original concept artist. Still no name reveal though, but at least we have this now: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_anteater-like_species.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)
DAY 123 UPDATES: Turns out this one was originally designed for ROTJ by Nilo Rodis-Jamero (seen below) as potentially a background alien at Jabba’s Palace, and that concept art has also been recycled 2 or 3 other times in-universe across the EU as well!

SPECIES: (still unidentified)
DAY 124 UPDATES: N/A
SPECIES: (still unidentified)
DAY 125 UPDATES: While Battle Scars did not reveal the species’ name, it did reveal that they hailed from the planet Artemesium, all but confirming that this is, indeed, a new species. We got a little lore about Artemesium’s inhabitants, learning that they may now be endangered due to the planet being ruined and the population being greatly diminished as a result of exploitative mass mining practices. This could explain why we’ve never seen the species before.

Various new media has surfaced regarding the Fifth Brother’s appearance specifically in Obi-Wan Kenobi, relating more to an attempt to translate the original design into live action as opposed to the initial design itself. As such, I won’t be featuring much of it here, but I did think it was worth including this relatively newly uncovered piece of Brian Matyas concept art which, I believe, nicely bridges the gap between animation in live action. While we await more info or an ID, here’s the Wook article I made for them: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_species_(Artemesium).
SPECIES: (still unidentified)
DAY 126 UPDATES: This was the species that retroactively replaced my duplicate “Lazu Lirona” post from Day 116. Made the Wookieepedia page for this one (https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_Rendel_species) though a species with at least some similar traits named the Rendellians has also surfaced in media since, though they’re not completely similar enough for me to fully make the connection. At the very least, Rendellians seem to have almost beak-like noses, with feather-textured hair, talon-like fingernails, and colorful skin, as seen with the image below.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)
DAY 127 UPDATES: Author Martin Fisher (@tronprogram2) revealed in a comment that he had plans for a follow up story that would have featured the species again. Based off of the wording, it sounds like this is no longer in the works, meaning we may have possibly missed out on the species receiving a name…

DAY 132 UPDATES: Makeup artist Brian Sipe revealed on Facebook that this was one of his creations. It’s technically possible there was still a concept artist prior to his work, though seemingly based on how he talks about other species he’s conceived, he (and sometimes members of his team at Gamut Studios) are commonly responsible for the creation of what I would describe as the “random, one-off background species designs which appear mostly Human but with just a few prosthetics or body paint,” so I definitely think this came from his mind!
The Art of The Mandalorian Season 2 actually features concept art of this species by Brian Maytas, and they’re showcased heavily within the Mando S2 “Gallery” doc on Disney+, being sort of the flagship species makeup example, with a timelapse and everything. Here’s the Wook article I created for them: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_cheek-and-forehead-spiked_species.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)
DAY 134 UPDATES: Jake Lunt Davies confirmed there was no intention of the species being related to the Kyuzo. With that in mind, I may be making a Wookieepedia page for them here very soon as they seem to meet the notability policy’s standards (eventually did, and the policy changed as well: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_dust-breathing_species).
SPECIES: Sanhueli
DAY 135 UPDATES: Tim Veekhoven (@Sompeetalay) gave confirmation that “Sanhueli” was intended to be their name but was only ever used “unofficially.” This is neither the first nor last case where a species name was established behind-the-scenes, existing in the Keeper of the Holocron’s archives or other similar databases, but simply never published in anything official (at least not yet).
May reach out to Leland Chee about this one eventually, but in the meantime, I managed to restore the Legends Wookieepedia article for this species and create the Canon one: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Fud_Sang%27s_species.

DAY 137 UPDATE: Charles Soule gave a little bit of… “information” surrounding Big String’s true identity.
SPECIES: (still unidentified)
DAY 138 UPDATES: As I continue to read through the entirety of the 1977 run, as well as the Star Wars Weekly issues, I’ve noticed that this is one of Carmine Infantino’s signature species designs. He appeared to be a huge fan of reptilian humanoids with fan-like ears or frills, many turning out like Day 209’s species with a bulbous head and carrot-like nose, however, like we see in the panel below from Star Wars Weekly #104 (also featuring a few of the aforementioned “carrot nose” species), this design still made occasional appearances!

DAY 141 UPDATE: Later confirmed that this species was originally designed by Luke D Fisher. Also got to make the Wookieepedia page for this one: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_small-mouthed_species!

SPECIES: Ayrou
DAY 142 UPDATES: It was pointed out to me pretty early on that Kilan was 100% inspired by EU art of the Ayrou species, despite lacking their distinctive “peacock feather” hair (below left). This observation would later be confirmed in the 2023 THR Character Encyclopedia (below right)!

SPECIES: (still unidentified)
DAY 143 UPDATES: A new character from The High Republic named Reek appears to belong to this species, although the coloration is different. Reek is described as an “Ewok-sized, rodent-like assistant” within the article they are first revealed, so we’ll see if the species name is soon to follow! (One of the first Wookieepedia species pages I ever made: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Neepers_Panpick%27s_species!)

SPECIES: (still unidentified)
DAY 145 UPDATES: Got maybe our best look at this one so far, albeit in an unfinished state, thanks to some BTS clips featured back in the “Ando – Official First Look Trailer!”

We saw a bit more of this one in the Lina Soh Hospital in Andor Season 2, revealing they have a long tail, either obscured for the one in S2 or maybe implied to have been cut off in the same accident that cost them their leg (though it may have just not been conceptualized at that point either). Here’s their updated Wook page I created: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_species_(Niamos).

SPECIES: Surpossian
DAY 148 UPDATES: David Messina’s Quote below gave me the first sign of hope that we hadn’t seen the last of Buck (and thus his species), and sure enough, they were one of a handful of comic species to be ID’d in the Comprehensive Encyclopedia released in late 2024, revealing Buck to be a Surpossian!
SPECIES: (still unidentified)
DAY 149 UPDATES: Came across the concept/key art for this one! Very helpful in getting a full picture of the design.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)
DAY 150 UPDATES: Various other images regarding this Inquisitor have surfaced since this original post, including concept/production art, “Tales of the Jedi” promotional art, and even an reappearance in “Tales of the Empire,” being featured in among the character heads in the “Star Wars” opening for the show (I want to say a first for unidentified species, but I could just be forgetting someone).

As for the character’s identity, we do finally have an answer, after additional bouts of confusion unfortunately. It became pretty clear that, though the events of the final Ahsoka-themed episode in “Tales of the Jedi” were very similar to those featuring the Sixth Brother (featured on Day 151) in the Ahsoka novel, they were, indeed, separate, meaning these Inquisitors were distinct individuals as well.
The 2024 Comprehensive Encyclopedia identified this Inquisitor as the “First Brother,” though I was actually there when Leland Chee revealed on the Wookieepedia Discord Server that this was a mistake and an image of the ex-Inquisitor “Marrok” (featured on Day 475) from the “Ahsoka” television series was supposed to have been included, identifying he as the First Brother instead (both Marrok and this Inquisitor share many similar properties, such as seemingly evaporating upon death).
Anyway, after debunking that this was the First Brother, it was revealed only a few days later in “Star Wars Insider #229” that this Inquisitor was instead the “Eleventh Brother,” firmly distinguishing him from both Bil Valen and Marrok, all three of whose species remain unidentified as of writing this.
