Current or Previously Unidentified Species 51-100

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 51 UPDATES: The species’ similarities to the Chevin were pointed it, so it is possible that this is, in fact, just a highly stylized and cartoonish adaptation of them, though it’s impossible to say for sure as it stands.

SPECIES: Orooturooian

DAY 52 UPDATES: Turns out this species had already appeared in Canon (and was identified) as of this initial tweet. Specifically, they were included in the Star Wars Adventures (2020) #7 short comic “Tales of Villainy: The Crimson Corsair and the Crime Lords of the Barren Rim,” given the name “Orooturooian,” which is consistent with their Legends homeworld, Orooturoo.

I had originally included a second tweet in the brief thread showcasing the panel where Princess Nampi grotesquely explodes, though decided to remove it from the site entirely as it’s just a but much, so if you want to see it, it’s still linked under the original tweet on Twitter/X.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 53 UPDATES: N/A

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 54 UPDATES: Species’ initial design was identified as belonging to concept artist Ivan Manzella. Also revealed to have originally been intended to appear at Fort Ypso instead of the “First Light” at some point based off of a maquette, though that idea was eventually scrapped. Here’s the Wookieepedia article I made for it: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_small_big-eared_species.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 55 UPDATES: N/A

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 56 UPDATES: The image of Tork I included in the original tweet from “Star Wars: Yoda Stories” never shows up for whatever reason, I believe because it’s so small (only 47×47 px), so I’ll just include it here as a courtesy. It also seems a second, more obscure member of this species, Sosio Kakra, makes an appearance within the Holiday Special as well, and here’s the species article I made that encompasses the both of them: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_pale-skinned_near-human_species.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 57 UPDATES: N/A

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 58 UPDATES: Here is the aforementioned tweet, although I couldn’t fit the entire thing into 1 screencap. If you click on any image of a tweet that is still available, I will make sure it links it to said tweet on the actual site.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 60 UPDATES: For each of the “false-Bothans” I made sure to track down official confirmation as to why we can confidently say that’s the case. This one specifically is where the term “Nothan” came from.

In the comment section of a post Leland Chee made in late 2024 regarding various “elephantine” species in Star Wars, he dropped some of these random comments covering numerical facts from the official Star Wars Holocron, with one of them referencing this character being “EU Bothan-looking” as well. Made a page for this one following notability policy updates: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_furry_large-eared_species.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 61 UPDATES: Here’s the “not-a-Bothan” confirmation for this species in a few image archived tweets from both Pablo Hidalgo and Matt Martin (unfortunately the links no longer exist):

Jake Lunt Davies also left a bit of additional context regarding this species’ design and identified the character actor as Derek Campbell, not incredibly relevant to the purpose of this series but interesting nonetheless!

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 62 UPDATES: Below is Matt Martin’s statement regarding this species, as well as the source of the nickname “Dogfacealienmanian.”

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 63 UPDATES: Neat to see this one reappear in Visions Volume 3, hoping we finally get a species name alongside the full “The Ninth Jedi” series!

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 64 UPDATES: N/A

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 65 UPDATES: I was able to track down both concept art as well as behind the scenes footage of this species/costume, which confirm Louis Wiltshire as the species’ original inceptor! The TROS artbook also reveals that during production, the species itself was referred to by the codename “Wizard 22.” Here’s their page I created: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_hulking_furry_species.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 66 UPDATES: I accidentally mistyped and listed this species’ canonicity status as “No,” however, they are actually exclusive to Star Wars Canon. They have also appeared fairly consistently throughout the Star Wars “Hyperspace Stories” comic limited series, although they have still yet to receive a name. Only a few more issues before we potentially lose our main chance to get one… (news flash, after typing this, they continued to go unnamed until the end of the run).

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 67 UPDATES: We’ve finally located the concept art for this species, as well as the name of the designer and even the tentative name of the character itself! This character was designed by Dylan Howie-Richardson, and appears to be named “Gorg Singo,” though how official this name revealed through ArtStation is remain unclear, and the the species still goes nameless… but at least I was able to make them a page: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Gorg_Singo%27s_species!

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 68 UPDATES: I was reminded that this is not the first Imperial-allied parrot individual associated with Darth Vader to appear in Star Wars. The first was Ban Papeega, yet another unidentified species who originated in the Legends comic “Vader Quest.” Whether this a coincidence, or whether Anton was based on Papeega (and may even have been intended to be a Canon version of the same species) is currently unclear, but it is at least a little suspicious, and I will speak on it more when I make an entry for Papeega’s species in the series!

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 72 UPDATES: It was credibly leaked that one of the two new species shown in the trailer will be named the “Zaraan.” The other species, featured on Day 204, seems to be the more likely candidate, however, we still cannot rule this one out either.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 73 UPDATES: N/A

SPECIES: Selonian

DAY 74 UPDATES: After further examination and comparison, I can confidently say that this was intended to be a Selonian, specifically their most recent iteration. They gave it almost tiger-like features here, despite the species originally being otter-inspired, though I am sure when I say this is the case. Below is the Selonian Jedi Master Leebon from “The High Republic.”

SPECIES: Bestoonian

DAY 75 UPDATES: More late-stage concept art by Jake Lunt Davies has surfaced. We also heard from one of the illustrators who has been heavily involved with Ochi’s journey throughout the Star Wars comics, Raffaele Ienco, who gave us some fun insight into the creation of his now iconic helmet!

And finally, after far too long, one of our “25 Day” species receives a name, the “Bestooanians,” as identified in the late 2024 Comprehensive Encyclopedia! This does have some interesting implications on the title of Bestoon overall, do all native Bestooanians refer to themselves as “[Insert Name Here] of Bestoon,” or does only Ochi does this to be quirky, or is there more to the tradition.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 77 UPDATES: While I interpreted the large objects growing out of the side of Ovarto’s head to be ears, Daniel José Older revealed in a Quote tweet that they are, in fact, horns, ruling out a lot of theories regarding pre-existing feline species.

The Japanese edition of THR Midnight Horizon also gave us a new illustration of the species that is by far our clearest look yet!

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 78 UPDATES: Here’s the article I created: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Loatha_Sommover%27s_species.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 83 UPDATES: Came across an additional BTS image of the back of this costume’s head in the “Andor – Official First Look Trailer,” thought I might as well include it here.

This species ended up reappearing in Andor Season 2, with at least two members seen on Ghorman, though still no species name as of yet.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 84 UPDATES: Bruno Redono commented and added a little context to this species’ existence!

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 85 UPDATES: Due to a technicality I suppose they met notability for a Wook species article: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_panther-like_species.

SPECIES: Frejuke

DAY 88 UPDATES: Located the original Manzella concept art, which is feature below in all its glory. And finally, in the 2024 Comprehensive Encyclopedia, specifically in the early Amazon previews, this species was revealed to be named the “Frejuke.”

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 89 UPDATES: N/A

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 90 UPDATES: I eventually included the other two species here on Days 435 and 537 respectively. Still have yet to decide whether I will end up lumping them all up together or not, I’ll need to see them appear in additional projects.

In part 1 of the “The Mandalorian” Season 2 Gallery doc on Disney+, we do see a bit more of this one BTS, including the fact that a number of head fins and barbs of varying sizes were seemingly developed, as well as that this one in particular was nicknamed “Catfish” on set. On the wall in the corner you can also make out the species’ concept art, makeup tests, and even what appears to be an article about IRL catfish. I think this all personally lends credence to the idea that all 4 instances seen so far do, in fact, belong to the same species, though given the visible differences, I was forced to create 3 separate articles for them on Wookieepedia (managed to lump the two orange ones from Sanctuary together):

Green: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_barbed_green_species

Pale: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_barbed_pale_species

Orange: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_barbed_orange_species

DAY 92 UPDATES: Daniel José Older Quoted with his original scribbles outlining what he hoped the species would look like!

Made the page for this one, and happy with the infobox image: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_beaked_two-toed_species.

SPECIES: Brixian

DAY 93 UPDATES: The original tweet formatted funkily for some reason, so I apologize for that. As for the concept artist’s identity, I eventually purchased the art book and learned that it was Ivan Manzella. Additionally, The Butcher of Brix received a 2023 Topps “Creatures & Aliens” collectible trading card from the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” set, which revealed that, for starters, he appeared somewhere in “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” as well as a bit of additional anatomical info in the card’s bio. Unfortunately, this did not bring us anywhere closer to a species name.

As pointed out by Leland Chee, the species had actually been ID’d years ago within an article for the Minecraft Star Wars Sequel Skin Pack, as seen here: https://www.starwars.com/news/minecraft-artists-on-creating-53-new-character-designs-for-the-star-wars-sequel-skin-pack. It would also seem their homeworld is, indeed, Brix, which means the Butcher presumably slaughtered his own kind.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 94 UPDATES: N/A

SPECIES: Axaleem

DAY 95 UPDATES: Somewhat surprisingly, this was one of the species identified in the 2024 Comprehensive Encyclopedia, Toren being revealed to be an “Axaleem.”

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 96 UPDATES: N/A

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 97 UPDATES: I recently learned that Raze (and subsequently this species) made a brief appearance in the “Dark Horse Celebration IV Poster,” one of the only times they were acknowledged outside of their initial appearance.

DAY 100 UPDATES: Listen, as much as I love Star Wars, I’m still only a fan with a fan’s level access to information, which means I’m not always 100% correct about what I post. However, as a content creator, and specifically one relied upon for facts, it is my duty to address any previously posted errors or misinformation. So here are a few things I was corrected on while sharing this thread. First and foremost, the below post (or at least parts of it) seem to just be second-hand claims and not set in stone:

Here is an additional article, some art, and a potential inspiration I completely missed:

In addition, I also got the dates and order of these wrong, as pointed out by another helpful creator:

Finally, for now, I would like to highlight the below image from the sixth season of the “The Clone Wars” animated series which gives us our best ever look at some of the species anatomy/biology/physiology. Should have featured in the original thread, but I guess I just forgot about it’s existence during the time.
