Cingulon

Name: Cingulon

Humanoid: Yes

Classification: Mineral/Alternative

Homeworld: Unknown

Coloration: White, Gray, and Orange

Biology: Cingulons were a fairly near-Human species that we have started seeing throughout the Star Wars galaxy. They stood slightly shorter than the average Human, although they usually weighed much more. They had rounded bodies, with two arms and two legs. And their hands sported large, three-fingered hands. They had pronounced brows, small eyes and mouths, and large, upturned noses. They also had spiky protrusions where most species’ ears would be, but they had no visible aural cavities. Cingulons were a completely hairless species, instead with hard, coarse, cracked skin that was described as “pebbly” or rocky in nature. This hard skin could serve as a natural defense mechanism, making them relatively resilient. Cingulons also appeared to have the capacity to pronounce Galactic Basic.

Lore: Little is known about the Cingulons at the current moment. They were already known by the greater galaxy by the rise of the Galactic Empire, but it is unclear when they were first discovered or integrated. They were represented on the Imperial Senate, and based on their representative’s relationship to longstanding senator Mon Mothma, it’s probably safe to assume they were members of the Galactic Republic. Said Cingulon senator, unfortunately, did not join Mothma’s attempt to stand up against the Empire and protect the Ghorman people, showing that at least some of them were complicit, or at least apathetic, to the actions of the Empire. One of the only other instances we’ve seen so far was allied with the Resistance, although we don’t have enough information to tell whether this was a trend, or whether this one Cingulon, Dellso Prin, was just an outlier.

Continuity: The Cingulons are exclusive to Star Wars Canon.

Unexplored: As usual, there’s a lot here yet to be explored, but at the moment, the basics are what need to be expanded upon first. What was the name of their homeworld? When were they first introduced to the outside galaxy? What sort of origins did they have, and what kind of creature did they evolve from? What was their history like? Were they involved in any major events? What sort of government, society, and economy did they have on their homeworld? What sort of unique traditions, religions, languages, habits, etc. did they have that distinguished them from other species? What do Cingulon women and children look like, and did they have any types of visual variation? And on a more specific note, did members of the species join the Resistance to make up for their inaction during the Galactic Civil War, or did they suffer at the hands of and rebel against the Empire eventually as well?

Additional Notes: I always enjoy a species with rocky appearance, they’re few-and-far-between, so the Cingulons are still unique in that regard! However, there’s not a whole lot else to go off of here at the moment. Still, I’m surprisingly really looking forward to seeing more of them in the future, specifically in a variety of other illustration formats such as in comic books or animated series, since their design is rather unique as it stands! (And when the first trailer for Andor Season 2 leaked, I was able to immediately make the blurry Cingulon talking to Mon Mothma out, so they definitely must’ve left an impact on me!)
