Current or Previously Unidentified Species 201-250

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 202 UPDATES: Infil’a has finally made his appearance in The High Republic (Shadows of Starlight #1), teased by Charles Soule a while back! This confirms that the character is well over 200 years old, which also gives us some insight into the species as well. He is also shown to have had blue hair when he was younger, which is an interesting trait and lends to the idea that he may not be a species we’ve known of before. There’s also a standing theory that he’s actually an Evereni, like Marchion and Marda Ro, a species who have seen a lot of prominence during the High Republic era, although one of their main traits, pointed ears, are sorely lacking on Infil’a.

The 2024 Comprehensive Star Wars Encyclopedia strangely identifies Kirak Infil’a as simply being “Human,” though I currently do not accept this idea, as the book seemingly refers to five or six other near-Humans (including the likes of Day 525 and Day 788) as Humans (potentially using the terms interchangeably), so I’ll need to see this reinforced in a separate source before I actually update this field. It is very possible they’re changing how they classify “Humans” behind-the-scenes to better accommodate “almost Humans,” though it’s impossible to say for certain at the moment.

DAY 204 UPDATES: The other possible option for the Zaraan is the species highlighted back on Day 72.

SPECIES: Lukovel

DAY 205 UPDATES: The 2024 Comprehensive Encyclopedia identifies this species as the “Lukovel.” “Grammus,” as well as the sisters’ first names, “Rhomby” and “Parallela,” are all math/geometry puns, though I cannot figure out if “Lukovel” follows that trend.

DAY 206 UPDATES: N/A

SPECIES: Mouse

DAY 207 UPDATES: Yes, I realize now that the one card reveals his species as “Mouse.” There’s definitely layers of jokes here, so I wouldn’t take anything from this post all too seriously.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 208 UPDATES: N/A

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 209 UPDATES: Until recently I never realized just how frequently this species appeared throughout early Star Wars media. It was clearly Carmine Infantino’s favorite original alien design, and it’s been fun to look out for them in all of the issues he illustrated, such as in Star Wars (1977) #24 (left) and Star Wars Weekly #104 (right) as seen below. We also learned specifically in issue #24 that their homeworld has seven rings, which a surprising lore tidbit!

DAY 210 UPDATES: N/A

SPECIES: Skilla

DAY 211 UPDATES: The 2024 Comprehensive Encyclopedia identifies Carib Diss as a Skilla, a pretty obvious reference to “Scylla and Charybdis” from Greek Mythology.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 217 UPDATES: The other species featured here, which may or may not be a juvenile version of the reptilians species here, is featured as a separate entry on Day 247.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 218 UPDATES: N/A

SPECIES: Pinurquian

DAY 219 UPDATES: I was eventually made aware that the majority of the tweet was wrong. For starters, the species HAS been named, specifically in the Star Wars Insider #89 article “Underworld: A Galaxy of Scum and Villainy” in 2006. Abel G. Peña and Ryan Kaufman gave them the name “Pinurquian,” earning a spot in the article due to their appearance in “Star Wars (1977) #85,” which brings us to our next correction. Unlike what I stated originally, the species actually appeared five issues earlier (as seen in the image below), debuting in the 1977 Marvel run’s issue #85, not #90. Fortunately, this does not change the creator’s identity, with Bob McLeod and Mary Jo Duffy responsible for both issues.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 220 UPDATES: Unlike with all of the “Nothan” species I covered not too long ago (Days 60-62), given the context of where this species originated, it’s very likely this was intended to be an interpretation of a female Bothan. Of course, we can’t say for sure, but it would definitely make sense, ESPECIALLY given the structure of their name and the inclusion of Bothuwai within the game.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 226 UPDATES: I suppose it’s possible this is just a strangely lit Human, though they just seem so different from the other seemingly Human individuals in this crowd, so I have my reasonable doubts.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 229 UPDATES: Found some high quality official renders of Grock from Respawn Character Artist Ben Lee on ArtStation: https://www.artstation.com/art_of_ben_lee! When posting them, I also got confirmation from Jake Lunt Davies that this was one of his designs (making all 3 alien heads in the bottom right his designs, the others being the Melbu and “Namara”). When asked if he had the concept art, he revealed that the art did exist, but is still not “cleared” to share publicly and was created hastily, not being of his usual quality. Depending on how detailed it looks, it’s very possible the species’ design was actually finalized by Neal Scanlan and/or members of his team, making the answer to “Who is this species’ creator?” a little bit less straightforward.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 232 UPDATES: Helped pass a new policy that allowed for the creation of species articles for any new species that appears within a 3D video game, most of which I ended up being able to make, such as this one: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Tulakt%27s_species.

This image posted to Wookieepedia recording an exchange with Jason Fry confirms that this species hails from one of six potential systems (five now that Turgle has been confirmed to be linked to the Lissam System and planet of the same name).

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 234 UPDATES: N/A

SPECIES: Kajain’sa’Nikto

DAY 235 UPDATES: Given the appearance of Ishnar Ti-Kharatal, one of, if not our first depictions of a female Kajain’sa’Nikto, I’m not fairly confident this individual is also a Nikto woman! The beak-like mouth section is still a bit distinct, but that could just be chalked up to differences in artist depictions. I asked Daniel José Older if this was intended to be Ishnar or possibly just another Nikto, and while his answer is a bit vague and confusing, it does make it seem like this is a high possibility.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 237 UPDATES: N/A

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 238 UPDATES: This species’ designer was later revealed to be Dae Woo Lee (Lee Dae-Woo) “RED GORILRA,” who appears to have created all of the characters for the episode.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 239 UPDATES: Potentially the same species as “Mount Sorrow,” also native to Endor and found in Ewoks-related media, who I will eventually feature in this series as well.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 240 UPDATES: The species was illustrated in the “The Mandalorian” manga adaptation, as seen here (also a cameo from Gekko). Here’s the deets: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_pale-blue_humanoid_species.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 241 UPDATES: Like with Raze on Day 97, this individual/species also made a rare reappearance in the “Dark Horse Celebration IV Poster.”

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 242 UPDATES: N/A

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 243 UPDATES: This species actually served as an inspiration for a Canon species (Day 695) featured in the first season of the “The Acolyte” television series, as revealed by David W. Collins on Twitter/X! Went ahead and made the species article for this one as well: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_earless_humanoid_species.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 244 UPDATES: Upon a more intent reread of The Blade, I actually realized that this character, and subsequently this species, appear exactly once in the background of both issues #3 and #2, making “The High Republic – ‘The Blade #2′” their actual first appearance. (I made extra sure they did not appear at any point throughout the first issue.)

DAY 246 UPDATES: N/A

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 247 UPDATES: The other species featured here, which may or may not be an adult version of the yellow species here, is featured as a separate entry on Day 217.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 248 UPDATES: Given the nature of how members of the School were identified, I believe it’s technically possible that this could be member of a species like the “Frid,” though unlikely as their descriptions better match those I featured images of in my actual articles covering them.

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 249 UPDATES: N/A

SPECIES: (still unidentified)

DAY 250 UPDATES: The strong resemblance to the Kessurian species is worth noting, however, I still believe that Punkrobot intended for this to be a new species and most likely was never aware of the Kessurian’s existence. What we can now confirm is that the species, as they appear here, were designed by María Elisa Soto-Aguilar and Antonia Herrera. As you may be able to tell from the article title I gave them, we have also since learned this species hails from the planet “Selk,” and though we still don’t know where the Kessurians come from, its’ almost assuredly a world named Kessur as there’s a System with that name as well, lending credence to the idea that the species are distinct: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_Selk_species.
