DAY 151 UPDATES: Topps has given us at least one rare new look at the Sixth Brother (it’s been well over a year now), although no new information about the species accompanied it.

The “Star Wars The Dark Side Pocket Expert” also featured a small profile on Bil, which only reinforced the idea that we have no idea what he may be. This is true for the Fourth Sister (who was later identified as a Nogratu) and the Fifth Brother (whose homeworld was identified as Artemesium) in the book as well (so we do know these fields are subject to change)! Finally, we now have official confirmation that Bil Valen and the “beaked Inquisitor” who debuted in “Tales of the Jedi” (now identified as the Eleventh Brother, read more about it on the Day 150 Updates) are, indeed, different characters, albeit both still belonging to unidentified species!

DAY 154 UPDATES: Made a mistake in the original post that I didn’t catch until match later, but as you can see on the cover, this is issue #85, not issue #84. This means that the species was actually created by Bob McLeod and Mary Jo Duffy, not the two men listed above. The species was also featured in a few panels in this issue (below left), as well as in issue #90 (below right), so I believe I must have been reading issue #84 instead and assumed this one only appeared on the cover, which is incorrect. Finally, in regards to my notes, it’s true that the “lighting” or shade of the cover made the species unnaturally purple, as we can see a similar thing happen within the issue where the species is completely orangish-yellow, in issue #90 that the species “true” color, or at least one of them, is indeed purple with pinkish horns!

SPECIES: Jillsarian
DAY 160 UPDATES: Posted an image I found from the “Andor – Official First Look Trailer” that is very similar to the BTS shot from the original Day 160 post as well as the very next image in the trailer which is of an animatronic skeletal skull, all in a thread about all of the species featured in said trailer.

I posed the idea that it was possible the animatronic might have been made for Quadpaw, since the trailer faded from one into the other, however, I left it open that it could be another species from the show as well. That’s when Paul Warren, one of the 3 actors who helped portray Quadpaw, commented and confirmed that the animatronic was not his, but possibly a part of the Freedi Pamular costume instead (which will be featured on the unidentified species series soon enough)!
And finally, it was revealed in the 2024 Comprehensive Encyclopedia that Quadpaw does not belong to a brand new species, but is instead a “Jillsarian” (below), four-armed humanoids from the Star Wars Expanded Universe who were not canonized prior!

DAY 163 UPDATES: During a re-watch of the Droids episode “The Pirates of Tarnoonga,’ while gathering screenshots of a totally different species, I spotted a member of this one in the background, making their first appearance Droids Season 1 Episode 7 instead of Episode 12.

I mentioned the Delilah Dawson thing in the Notes, but realized I never provided proof which is now pretty hard to come by as, unfortunately, like so many other official creators who have (rightfully) left Twitter/X due to the mismanagement of the platform, Delilah has since nuked and abandoned her account, with the aforementioned tweet now forever lost. Fortunately, someone managed to screenshot said thread although I have yet to find any sort of backup/archival link to attach it to, so this may be the best we get. (I was eventually given permission to create the Canon Wookieepedia page for this species as well: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Pink_pachydermoid_species.)

SPECIES: Arkanian Offshoot
DAY 165 UPDATES: There was an incredibly slow trickle-feed of info regarding this one. First, the character’s name was revealed to be Dagan Gera, a major player within the story of Jedi: Survivor. We then identified at least one of this species’ creators, Yevhen Lisunov, who is a Senior Character Artist at EA\Respawn Entertainment. He was responsible for the creation of Dagan Gera’s 3D appearance, although it is believed he may have been inspired by 2D art from a separate artist, quite possibly Jean-francois Rey, whose sketches has often been used as the basis for assets it the “Jedi” games.
However, we eventually learned that Dagan Gera’s creator didn’t really matter when it came to his species as he was eventually revealed to be a pre-existing race in the High Republic Character Encyclopedia! While many theorized he was a Kage, Umbaran, Echani, Bfpasshi, Rattataki, Evereni, Arkanian, or even a Human or Kirak Infil’a’s species, if he wasn’t just a new pale humanoid in the first place. However, the final answer surprised pretty much everyone, as we were informed he was an “Arkanian Offshoot,” a genetically engineered species or possibly subspecies created by the Arkanians, popularized thanks to the Arkanian Offshoot, Jarael, in the EU Knights of the Old Republic comic series. This is not the first Arkanian Offshoot to be mentioned within Canon, however, it is the first time we’ve technically seen one.
This was a pretty big revelation that took WAYYY too long to be revealed. But I suppose we should just be thankful that we finally got it; better late than never! (This also means that the species’ design overall should be credited to John Jackson Miller and Brian Ching of the KOTOR comic, however, those listed above are still responsible specifically for their appearance within Canon which could be argued is somewhat different.)

DAY 166 UPDATES: This trailer saw a recent resurgence, and so I found myself re-sharing this specific post. On the shared post, Jake Lunt Davies, one of the artists who helped finalize the designs of the Mimbanese from Solo: A Star Wars Story, commented and seemingly confirmed that this individual in no way inspired the modern Mimbanese/Mimbanites, and that any similarities were indeed just coincidental.
The concept art and seemingly its artist (appearing to be Jules Mann based on some email correspondences a mutual had) was discovered for this one surprisingly, as well as some behind-the-scenes looks, all leading to the creation of this article: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_maroon_species.
SPECIES: (still unidentified)
DAY 167 UPDATES: A Wookieepedia editor I have since become more acquainted with commented on this post and pointed out the species’ strong similarities to the Hutt Guard Droids from Star Wars Legends. Afterwards, however, Paolo Villanelli replied and confirmed that there was no intentional connection/inspiration as he had never seen the EU droid before. Just thought I’d note this for fun, doesn’t really add much to the actual conversation though.
SPECIES: Warthog
DAY 168 UPDATES: The credits and subsequent supplementary text revealed that this species’ name is simply “Warthog” (portrayed by Ian Goodwin). It’s possible this could be a placeholder, but I wouldn’t put it past them to make it the species’ official Canon name from here on out. (This could have weird implications for the clone pilot of the same name as well.)

The species did reappeared in the “Skeleton Crew” television series where they got a little bit of the spotlight, though no knew real information was gleaned, aside from the fact that they squeal.
SPECIES: Seidaot/Seidaotian
DAY 169 UPDATES: I went ahead and included Vilardi’s name for the species here as I generally acknowledge any “unofficially revealed” names, including others such as the Namara (since made official), the Vonomi (Day 270/also since made official), and the Sanhueli (Day 135/still unconfirmed)!
SPECIES: Quaraxian
DAY 170 UPDATES: Interestingly, it was originally revealed in the Comprehensive Encyclopedia that came out in November 2024 that Phaedra belongs to an existing species known as the Wroonians. The Wroonians date all the way back to year one of the Star Wars franchise, debuting in “Marvel Star Wars (1977) #7,” being the original “blue Human” species. Through a lengthy history, which I’ll detail more on my official Wroonian article, they eventually sort of evolved into the modern “Pantorans,” the most well known and common blue near-Humans. In fact, George Lucas’ character Baron Notluwiski Papanoida in “Episode III: Revenge of the Sith” was originally revealed to be a Wroonian, only later being updated into a Pantoran after “The Clone Wars” animated series featured them heavily in an episode.

The species had been tentatively Canon for some time post-Disney buyout as they were mentioned in “Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon #44,” a “De Agostini” magazine that’s canonicity is still highly debated to this day. They were then firmly rooted in-continuity after being mentioned in the “Shadow of the Sith” novel, and as of this initial revelation, it seemed we had our first depiction, despite it being a departure from the blue folk we knew, as welcomed as that change from generic into a little bit less was. Then the script was flipped on its head, when Phaedra reappeared in 2025’s “Jedi Knights #4,” where she is identified instead as belonging to a rare species known as the Quaraxians.

Marc Guggenheim was DM’d by another species enthusiast I’m in contact with who confirmed he had intended for the species to be new all along, and stated the Wroonian identification was a mistake though curiously the Lucasfilm Story Group had still not flagged it as such, potentially hinting that there could be a connection between the Quaraxians and the Wroonians that has yet to be revealed that would allow for Phaedra to be both at once (or maybe she’s just a hybrid). Anyways, until we learn more, it’s safest to roll with what Guggenheim intends, which is what’s also actually been stated in-universe as opposed to OOU encyclopedic material (and said encyclopedia had multiple species-related errors anyway, mostly in regards to Humans, so I was a bit wary from the start).

Additionally, I found some TROS background character concept art created by Calum Alexander Watt using Luke D Fisher’s original species design! (Because the species appeared in both TROS and Andor, they met the species notability standards on Wookieepedia, which allowed me to make their official article: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Unidentified_sentient_tusked_species!)

SPECIES: Nogratu
DAY 175 UPDATE: A handful of official Topps collectible trading cards debuted well after Obi-Wan Kenobi’s release, giving us some new clean looks at the Fourth Sister and her species, including (in my opinion) the two best below!

The Fourth Sister also received a profile in the “Star Wars The Dark Side Pocket Expert” which lists the status of her homeworld and species as “Unknown,” seemingly shooting down the Thradian theory. As stated on Day 151 in the Sixth Brother’s “UPDATE” section, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Inquisitors all have “Unknown” for both fields, however, since the book’s publishing, thanks to Jedi: Battle Scars, we since learned the Fifth Brother’s homeworld, meaning they are slowly but surely updating those fields with new info (foreshadowing). Hopefully the Fourth Sister will be next, given she’s long overdue for an extended appearance, but one of the least explored members of the Inquisitorious (again, foreshadowing).

After I wrote that last paragraph, we received a new batch of info. First and foremost, the Fourth Sister has been formally identified as “Lyn Rakish” (her name when she was a Jedi), so that’s what I’ll be primarily referring to her as going forward. Additionally, we’ve finally located some of her original concept art, designed by Brian Matyas as seen below (left). Lyn also made her animated debut within “Tales of the Empire,” giving us a better overall look at the character/species (right), leaving her story up for future exploration, and giving us our best reason yet to believe that a species reveal is right around the corner (one last time, foreshadowing)!

And finally, after an incredibly long wait, we now know, thanks to the 2024 Comprehensive Encyclopedia, that the Fourth Sister/Lyn Rakish belongs to a new species known as the “Nogratu.” It’s been pointed out that Nogratu and Togruta both consist of the same letters, and given some of their similar traits (primarily the striped lekku), it is possible that both species are related or associated or something of the sort. Only time will tell as we finally begin to receive Nogratu lore now that they’ve been named!

SPECIES: Andraven
DAY 191 UPDATES: The planet this species could be found on was identified as “Andraven,” though it was shown that they had migrated to this world, and instead hailed from a different, still unidentified world. This is strange then, as Keeper of the Holocron Leland Chee referred to this species as “Andraven (species)” in an infographic on Instagram, intended to show that the elephantine character Neel from Skeleton Crew was not an Ortolan but instead one of may pachydermoid species in the Star Wars galaxy (prior to the show’s debut and Neel being revealed to be a Myykian). When I asked him if this was an official reveal of the species name, he simply said it’s a pretty good placeholder until we see it in an actual source.
And that actual source came in the form of the 2024 Comprehensive Encyclopedia, which did, in fact, refer to this species outright as the Andraven. Though again, there’s more lore to this than we’re being shown right now, as they either named/renamed the snowy world they can be found on in “Young Jedi Adventures” after themselves, or they adopted the name Andraven after they moved there, and they originally went by a different name before leaving their homeworld. Only time will tell if they will ever expand upon this concept (currently unlikely given the target demographic for YJA), but maybe they’ll receive a second name someday!

I also found a short documentary specifically detailing the creation and implementation of the Kijimi set primarily narrated by Keri Russell which gave me a slightly higher quality close-up shot compared to that included in the original tweet, as well as a full-body look showcasing Watt’s right-side outfit design above!
