Dobatan

Last Updated: 01/26/2026

Name: Dobatan

Humanoid: Yes

Classification: Alternative

Homeworld: Unknown

Coloration: Unknown

Biology: Dobatans were seemingly a humanoid species strongly resembling the Keteerian species. They possessed two arms and presumably two legs, with large heads. Their chins were ribbed, with high-set mouths with pronounced lips that were naturally downturned. They also possessed wideset eyes that seemingly gave them a blind spot in the center of their vision, as well as large, outward pointed conical ears, and a seeming lack of visible nostrils. Due to our limited glimpses at their appearance, we do not know what their eyes look like, nor what color their skin is, not their overall height, official number of legs, or the number of digits on each appendage.

Lore: We currently know nothing about the Dobatans aside from the fact that they were discovered and introduced into the greater galaxy sometime during or prior to the “Dark Times” era, aka the rise of the Galactic Empire. One member of this species, Weebahn, worked as a podracer in the service of Grakkus the Hutt, though had gone missing by 10 BBY, presumably “disappeared” by his employer. Weebahn was said to be from the planet Ylesia in Hutt Space, though it’s unclear if this was the homeworld of the entire Dobatan species, or just this one individual.

Continuity: Dobatans are exclusive to Star Wars Canon, being introduced and currently contained only within the “Star Wars: Beyond Victory” VR/AR experience.

Unexplored: This is one of those species that are almost best left with just “everything” instead of trying to extrapolate details to go off of. I guess we could ask does the species really come from Ylesia? Do they have a strong association with the Hutts? Are they possibly related to Keteerians given their similar appearances, or was this entirely incidental? When were they first discovered? And what do they actually look like, what color were they, how tall were they, what language did they speak, what was their diet, etc.? Aside from that, just diving into our usual list of general worldbuilding traits should do the trick in fleshing them out in whatever you decide to use them in, fanfiction or otherwise.

Additional Notes: This is one of the bigger mysteries to come from “Beyond Victory,” and it’s sorta surprising the model was made solely for this and never seemingly reused anywhere else in the game. I have yet to actually play it unfortunately, but I do have some sources who have and they were never able to uncover anything else. Hopefully the assets will be posted to ArtStation or datamined or something eventually, and I still think the Keteerian resemblances are almost too uncanny, though Dobatans look almost a bit more fish-like than the Keteerians’ mammalian appearances. Overall, I would like to see more of this one someday, just because the bits we got were tantalizing and it came from such an obscure source that they’re unfortunately much less likely to see the light of day again…
