Buzchub

Last Updated: 09/09/2025

Name: Buzchub

Humanoid: Yes

Classification: Alternative/Beastite

Homeworld: Harrandarr

Coloration: Blue

Biology: The Buzchub were a wide, fur-covered, almost muppet-like sentient species found throughout the Star Wars galaxy. They stood around 1.5 meters tall on average, being almost as wide as they were tall, with a bipedal frame, specifically featuring two arms and two legs. Their limbs were large, with at least two wide fingers on each hand. Their entire bodies were also covered in a thick coat of dark blue fur that was thinnest around their faces. Despite their fluffy, cuddly, almost unassuming appearance, Buzchub were actually fairly muscular, with a naturally high baseline strength that surprised many.

Buzchub had rounded heads with wide mouths, little in the way of visible lips, flat noses with outward facing nostrils, and large, oval eyes that noticeably lacked eyelids. These eyes had light sclera and small, dark pupils, with no visible irises, and given their missing eyelids, they seemed incapable of blinking. Due to the shape of their vocal chords, it was also impossible for Buzchub to pronounce Galactic Basic without the assistance of a vocoder, instead sticking to their currently unnamed native tongue, as well as possibly the Wookiee language of Shyriiwook. Additionally, Buzchub were a slow moving species known for their waddling stride.

Lore: The Buzchub seemingly originally hailed from the Outer Rim world of Harrandarr, although that fact has actually been brought into question in the past. They had been discovered and introduced into the galaxy some time prior to the Galactic Civil War, and were very familiar with the Wookiees of Kashyyyk, who they considered to be both close allies, as well as their “long-haired brothers.” Buzchub were known for being peaceful and often a bit gullible, desiring little more than to travel the stars and experience new wonders. Uninterested in technological marvels, they instead valued natural beauty and the vast variety of environments the galaxy had to boast. Sadly, their innocence sometimes led them into trouble, with at least one being tricked into working for Imperial sympathizers shortly after the destruction of the Second Death Star.

Continuity: The Buzchub are exclusive to Star Wars Legends.

Unexplored: There’s not a lot to work with here at the moment, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing. With their relatively unique appearance, there are definitely some aspects about the Buzchub I would like to see further explored someday! For starters, is it true the Buzchub for sure came from Harrandarr, and if not, where might they have originated from? If true, what was Harrandar like, when was it and its native species first discovered, and what might the Buzchub have evolved from to arrive at their current appearance? Were there additional variations of the species, such as height or color? And what sort of language did they speak, as well as was it actually possible for them to speak Shyriiwook?

On that note, when did the Buzchub first develop a relationship with the Wookiees, how and why did this come about, and did the Wookiees think of the Buzchub as highly as the Buzchub thought of the Wookiees? How many Buzchub could be found among the galaxy, and did many settle down at beautiful locales, or were they more commonly wandering vagabonds or travelers? How many got pulled into less-than-savory events due to their naivety, and did they ever learn to be more careful about what they did and who they affiliated with? Additionally, did they have any other major relationships or allegiances, such as being members of the Republic, or were they too lackadaisical to deal with complex politics? Exploring the answers to these various questions, as well as our usual list of general worldbuilding traits, will really help the Buzchub become something fun and intriguing in the future!

Additional Notes: Despite the limited look and information we have about the Buzchub, I really like this species! They feel like something straight out of Sesame Street, and I don’t think that was unintentional, as even their name is very muppet-like. I would really like to see them get a slightly updated appearance and appear in modern visual media, especially something maybe linked to the High Republic era or a children’s animated program. Could be fun, and it definitely leans into that classic Star Wars camp!
