Name: Khramboan
Humanoid: Yes
Classification: Amphibious/Dwarf
Homeworld: Unknown (Khramboa System)
Coloration: Gray, Purple, and Blue
Biology: Khramboans were a race of short, presumably amphibious creatures hailing from a currently unknown planet. They stood somewhere between 1.2 and 1.5 meters high on average and had pale blue or purple skin. The species was bipedal, with two arms and two legs, their hands possessing three spindly fingers. They had two plump tentacles emerging from above their mouths, as well as eyes perched on a strange semi-circular “headstalk” that wrapped around the back of their skulls. Their eyes were rounded and seemingly solid black. Khramboan heads were oblong and squid or octopus-like, and they had four small holes on their foreheads, seemingly serving as either nostrils or gills. They also had faint darkened designs on their foreheads, possibly serving as a form of camouflage. As mentioned above, due to their visible anatomy, it is assumed that they are amphibious, however, this has yet to be completely confirmed. They also spoke an unidentified language, and we do not know if they could pronounce Galactic Basic.
Society: We currently know essentially nothing about this species, a surprising fact seeing as it was designed for the “The Clone Wars” animated series whose aliens almost always got expanded lore not long after they were first introduced. Still, it was revealed they originated from somewhere within the Khramboa System, which itself was found within the infamous region of the galaxy known as “The Slice.” They had also been discovered some time prior to the Clone Wars, and at least a few could be found residing on Coruscant, giving us a fair reason to believe they were a Republic-allied species.
Continuity: The technically Khramboans existed during the tail-end of the primary Legends era, but because they were only found within Star Wars: The Clone Wars, they were brought over into Canon with no issues or lore lost. (Although it is worth noting that the Khramboa System has currently never been canonically referenced.)
Unexplored: Because we know near to nothing about the species, the first things that need to be explored are their homeworld, how they were able to get offworld, whether they are amphibious or just long ago evolved from an animal that was, what their planetary society, government, and economy look like, and if they have any cultural traditions. From there, you can answer more specific questions such as whether they sided with a faction during the Clone Wars, if they were involved with the Galactic Civil War, and when they were actually first introduced to the galaxy outside of the confines of the Khramboa System. Then you can finally start to really develop your own Khramboan character using context and lore to understand where they came from and what they were often like.
Additional Notes: They’re not the most interesting amphibious-looking species to ever exist in the Star Wars universe, but they do have a fairly unique and pleasant design, especially with those simple eyes. Like I mentioned above, it’s pretty fascinating that they came from The Clone Wars and we still know so little about them. However, even almost 14 years after they first debuted, their ONLY appearances have been within four TCW episodes, and only got any sort of spotlight in one of those.
