Name: Taymar
Humanoid: Yes
Classification: Near-Human/Alternative
Homeworld: Unknown
Coloration: Blue or Bluish-Green
Biology: The Taymar were a fairly near-Human sentient race, being bipedal in nature with two legs, as well as four arms, situated in pairs stacked closely on top of each other, with each ending in a five-fingered hand. The species was petite and slender, generally growing slightly smaller than the average Human and considered rather delicate in nature. Taymar skin was aquamarine in coloration, with a noticeable sheen that sparkled like glitter under certain lights. The heads and faces of Taymar were mostly Human-like, with the same general mouths, noses, and eyes. They did possess slightly different ears which were much more pointed at the top.
Taymar “hair” could grow much faster than that of Humans, easily reaching the length of their body by relatively young age. Said hair was actually described as “tendrils,” although the exact texture and anatomy of said tendrils was unclear, being a different shade than that of their body, considerably more of a light blue instead of blueish-green. The species’ eyebrows and lips were also a much darker shade of blue as well. Taymar appeared to have a similar lifespan to that of Humans, and could easily pronounce Galactic Basic, although we do not know anything about their native tongue. The species were also known for their generally beautiful and entrancing voices.
One of the Taymar’s most distinct traits was their seemingly unique connection to the Force, which allowed every member of the species to naturally levitate on command, although their hair appeared to be perpetually suspended above their hands in a floating manner. This would seem to infer that the species had a high baseline midi-chlorian count, although other factors may exist as well. It’s very possible the species extruded a naturally sweet aroma, potentially related to their Force abilities or pheromones. There is also reason to believe that the species may be somehow related to the Mikkian species.
Lore: We currently know next to nothing about the Taymar as a collective species. They seemed to be commonly seen among the intergalactic entertainment industries, potentially partnering or at least word adjacent with members of the Lucem species. A number of Taymar could also be found dwelling among Corellia by the time of the High Republic era, situated into close-knit families, although the identity of their actual homeworld remains unknown. Taymar possessed fairly elongated names, constructed in ways such as “Svi’no Atchapat,” with family surnames being quite important.
Continuity: The Taymar were initially created for The High Republic multimedia event, and are thus exclusive to Star Wars Canon.
Unexplored: If you couldn’t tell already, there is quite a bit left unexplored when it comes to the Taymar. The best we can do is ask some general questions that, if answered, would help the interesting facets of this species really stick in the long run. These include: Where did the Taymar hail from, what was the name of this homeworld, and is it possible that it was located near Mikkia, leading to the two species sharing a common ancestor of something of the sort? What sort of six-limbed species might they have evolved from, and why did they develop in such a “fragile” manner? Why would their skin sparkle as it does, and could all of these factors indicate that they come from a lush world with no real natural predators?
When were the Taymar first discovered, and was it possible that they were ever made members of the Galactic Republic? How many Taymar ended up on Corellia (or other planets for that matter), and was the Atchapat Family an outlier when it came to the species leaving their homeworld, or was that the norm? Is it possible something happened to their home that caused the species to be forced to spread out among the stars, or did they simply begin to expand offworld because they could like so many other species? In-universe, why have we seen so few members of the species up until this point? Were they potentially oppressed, enslaved, or exterminated by the Galactic Empire due to their natural abilities? And was their anti-gravity condition related to having a high midi-chlorian count, some sort of engrained Magicks, or another source that has yet to be explored? Delving into the answers to some of these questions, as well as the usual list of worldbuilding traits I bring up in these articles, will set us on the right track to have a truly standout species here!
Additional Notes: There’s some really unique stuff here and I enjoy the fact that they didn’t just make the species another generic near-Human. I also know I read somewhere that the species produced a naturally sweet aroma similar to a species like the Kitonak, although I couldn’t re-find it during the initial writing of this article so, while I went ahead and included it above, I will be double checking all of their appearances to back this claim up. In the meantime, I highly encourage using a Taymar in your next piece of media, there’s a ton of fascinating potential here!
