Sarravi

Last Updated: 11/13/2023

Name: Sarravi

Humanoid: Yes

Classification: Beast

Homeworld: Unknown

Coloration: Brown

Biology: We have yet to receive a very clear look at the Sarravi, however, we do know they were a humanoid species that seemingly stood around the same height on average as a baseline adult Human. Their bodies were covered in a thin layer of brown fur. They appeared to have four or five-fingered hands with brown fingernails. Their furry faces were flat, with pronounced brows, eyes that could possess white sclera and black irises and pupils, females had long eyelashes (males have yet to be seen), they had small, fleshy upturned noses that showed off dark brown skin, and they possessed small mouths. Their heads overall appeared triangular, and based on what we can see, it is believed that they had abnormally large ears.

Lore: Nothing is known about the Sarravi as a species as of yet. One individual was a religious figure who lived on the holy moon of Jedha, where they seemingly had their own unique established religion. This included a temple named the “Shrine of Sarrav” and an object known as the “Screen of the Second Sight,” both of which seemingly had a strong connection to the Force. Based on this information, their homeworld was most likely named Sarrav as well, but as it stands, we still cannot officially confirm this.

Legends/Canon: The Sarravi are exclusive to the current Star Wars Canon, and specifically come from media within The High Republic.

Unexplored: If you couldn’t tell, there is quite a bit left completely unknown about this species which may not get expanded upon for quite some time. However, if and when this does happen, the following includes questions that would benefit the expansion of their war nicely. For starters, where are they originally from? When were they first discovered, and are most of them still found on their homeworld or have they long since spread out across the galaxy? What was the basis for their religious beliefs, and was it widespread or simply localized on worlds like Jedha? As always, exploring worldbuilding concepts such as their government, society, culture, history, civilization, relationships, alliances, economy, arts or exports, technologies, philosophies, traditions, habits, etc. is never not warranted. And we are still in dire need of a better illustration, or at the very least description of the Sarravi.

Additional Notes: Nothing crazy noteworthy here. In fact, if we weren’t specifically told that the Sarravi we saw was a new species, I would have easily assumed they were just a Frozian (at least based off of what the Frozians look like within The High Republic). Still, there’s always intrigue surrounding the many species that make up Jedha’s religious landscape, and so I suspect we may eventually learn more about the species (which will cause this article to be updated).
