Name: Tostonian
Humanoid: Yes
Classification: Alternative
Homeworld: Unknown
Coloration: Pink & Orange
Biology: Very little has been revealed about the Tostonians biologically as of yet. We do know that they stood approximately 1.8 meters in height, having the same general shape and build as the average humanoid. They had coarse, lumpy skin that was varying shades of pink and orange. They had long, sharp, black claws on their hands. And had large, rounded heads, with high set big, glossy black eyes. They also had flat nostrils, big lips, and spoke in an alien language, although we do not know if they could pronounce Basic. They could also consume spices such as Glitterstim, and may have even been fish-like or at least amphibious in nature.
Lore: As with their biology, the Tostonians are a completely blank slate of a species as of their last (and first) appearance. One was seen on the planet Daiyu, and was apparently a spice maker, dealer, and apparently consumer. Whether or not this trend is indicative of the species is unknown, but at the very least we know they were out and about within the known galaxy during the Galactic Civil War era. Given their biology, they may have been a naturally predatory species (at least at one point), or were at the very least able to aptly defend themselves without the assistance of weaponry.
Legends/Canon: The Tostonians are exclusive to Star Wars Canon, making their debut in the Obi-Wan Kenobi show.
Unexplored: Until we learn a little more establishing lore, it’s hard to even start exploring the Tostonians in a unique manner. At the moment they are just a name and a design, so now it’s time to learn what makes them special and where they fit into the galaxy. As always, establishing lore includes a species homeworld, unique biological traits, governmental structure, history, origins, society, economy and exports, potential religions, traditions, habits, and overall perspectives of the galaxy based off of upbringings or circumstances. With that, this new species can start to stand on their own among such a crowded galaxy.
Additional Notes: When I first saw this species appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi, I swore that I recognized it from somewhere, and it started to drive me crazy when I couldn’t find it and it was dubbed as “new” boy other sources. I thought maybe they were inspired by the Columi species, at least with the head, but then I realized that I was just thinking of the “Salarians” from the Mass Effect franchise. So yes, the Tostonians have first appeared in Obi-Wan Kenobi Part II, which only came out five days prior to the initial publishing of this article. That’s one of the quickest introduction to publishing times I believe I’ve ever had when it came to this site! I’m sure we’ll receive further updates regarding this species soon, and when we do, I will make sure to return and update this entry!
