Name: Trodatome
Humanoid: No
Classification: Alternative
Homeworld: Unknown
Coloration: Yellow, Orange, and Brown
Biology: Trodatome are a tall, slug-like species that are still somewhat mysterious. They “stood” approximately 2 meters in height upon adulthood, weighing much more than the average humanoid species, although the exact number is unknown. They had thick, wrinkled skin that was orange or yellowish in coloration and hung loosely on their bodies and blubber. Trodatome possessed no true legs, with only large two-toed feet that offered very little use. Their only form of locomotion came from a slow waddle, potentially assisted by mucus secretions.
Trodatome also did not have any sort of arms, instead using their six prehensile sensory antennae to grip objects with surprising precision. The antennae, along with the additional two located on top of their head, also served as extrasensory receptors, detecting sound, as well as potentially smell and other environmental factors. We do not know the extent of their extrasensory sensitivity, nor what they fully can or cannot detect.
Trodatome had large, round eye stalks sporting blue eyes surrounded by drooping eyelids. Their mouths gave way to large cavities, with an enormous tongue and slip upper lip. Trodatome were known for being quite loud, able to project their voice among a crowd. However, they were physically incapable of pronouncing Galactic Basic, and instead spoke their own, currently unnamed language.
Lore: Nothing is currently known as the Trodatome as a species, with only a handful of instances popping up every so often. The most prominent Trodatome, Klaud, was considered to be the most skilled technician among the Resistance’s ranks, although we never actually saw him in action. Whether this is indicative of the Trodatome’s overall skills or allegiances is unknown, but they have appeared during the Cold War, Galactic Civil War, and even High Republic eras so far.
Legends/Canon: The Trodatome are exclusive to Star Wars Canon, making their debut relatively recently in Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.
Unexplored: As mentioned above, there is A LOT still waiting to be unwrapped regarding the Trodatomes. They are one of the most visually distinct creatures to come out of recent Star Wars, and have somewhat taken the fandom by storm, yet we know next to nothing about them. What is their homeworld? What is their language? When were they discovered? Who do their allegiances lie with, if any? What are they most well known for? Have any been Jedi, Sith, or other great figures in galactic history? There’s so much still waiting to be explored, we just need the right time and place!
Additional Notes: Love me some Trodatome! Klaud is both ironically AND unironically one of my favorite recent characters, and the inside jokes surrounding him are amazing. I’ve noticed that even Sequel haters can’t help but love Klaud, meaning the Trodatome are the bridge that draws the entire Star Wars fandom together! Glad to see them pop up in Jedi Survivor, and I’m truly hoping for some more big expansions to their lore soon, hopefully maybe during The High Republic, but really anything will do. I just need it! Please Star Wars, hear my cries!!!
