Name: Czerialan
Humanoid: Yes
Classification: Near-Human
Homeworld: Czerialus
Coloration: Tan and Orange
Biology: The Czerialan were a near-Human species found sparsely throughout the galaxy. They had the same general height, build, and body shape as the average human, and from what we know, all of the same anatomical features as well. Their most defining traits were their pale skin, abnormally tall craniums, discoloration around the tops of their heads, and pattern of hair growth. Their skin was usually very light tan in coloration, with darker orange or brown speckles growing in intensity towards the tops of their heads, similar to Melasma or reverse Vitiligo. Their irises were dark, contrasting their pale skin, and their hair was white or very light orange in coloration from birth, growing in a single patch on the very tops of their heads (and potentially their fingers). Like most humanoids, the Czerialans had the capacity to pronounce Galactic Basic, although other things like their lifespans and native tongues have yet to be revealed.
Lore: Almost nothing is known about the Czerialans, and what we do know is only told to us through the brief story of one family. The family unit appears to be important to Czerialan culture, and from what we know, they were primarily relegated to Czerialus. Whether this is because the Czerialans were isolationists, or there was some other reason for them to seldom travel out into the rest of the galaxy has yet to be revealed. During the Galactic Civil War, we know that Czerialus was occupied by the Galactic Empire. And there is reason to believe that the Czerialans possessed, at least in part, a matriarchal society. Nothing else is known about their culture, economy, government, or history, although the one family we do see, the Xoczuko family, did temporarily travel to Corellia to work for whatever reason.
Legends/Canon: The Czerialans are exclusive to Star Wars Canon, being introduced in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Unexplored: Since most of the Czerialan’s lore is given to us quite sparingly or through inference, there is still a lot left to be explored. First and foremost, a deep dive into their homeworld would be incredibly beneficial. How is their society, economy, and government structured? Were they ever aligned with any galactic superpowers? What caused the Empire to invade Czerialus, a rebellious population, rich natural resources, intent to enslave the population, or something else? What were some things that further set the Czerialans apart from humans, and did they share the same ancestor or simply happen to evolve with similar traits as some other Near-Humans in the galaxy did? Did their large craniums mean they had much larger brains, and in turn heightened intelligence, or is there no correlation? And do to their pale complexion, did they have an aversion to bright sunlight? These are some basic things that can be expanded upon to further set this species apart and really make them stand out from among the hundreds of other humanoid species.
Additional Notes: There isn’t a whole lot of note regarding the Czerialans. Their name is definitely unique, and I’m not even entirely sure how to pronounce it, but other than that their design is pretty standard. I do like the story of the Xoczuko family, and hope to see it fleshed out further in the future, but until then we’ll have to be satisfied with the species being referenced at least once so far in material from The High Republic.
