Coloration: Silver and/or Lavender

Biology: The Soikan were a little-known near-Human species originating from the planet Soika. From what we know, they were nearly identical to the average Human, save for a few details regarding coloration as well as their pointed ears. The Soikans were split into two subspecies, the “Gagic” and the “Livtak,” one with silver in their pigmentation and the other more solid lavender in coloration, although which one is which has seemingly not yet been revealed. Their skin had a unique reflective sheen to it, giving them an almost glowing appearance under the right light. They have also been observed with shimmering, silver hair and bright lilac or purple eyes. While they shared the same general body shape and build as Humans, they were also noticeably naturally tall, often standing at or just above 1.8 meters on average.

Society: The only thing we know about the Soikans is that their homeworld, Soika, was ravaged by the “Soikan Conflict,” a number of ongoing, planetary civil wars. There were a number of prominent Soikan factions inciting the conflicts, which may have been partially perpetuated by the divide between their subspecies. The “Soika Liberation Force” was one said faction, although we don’t know anything about what they really stood for in the grand scheme of things or how they operated. Soika seemed to exist within the jurisdiction of the Galactic Republic, at least during the time of the High Republic, but it is currently unclear if they were ever pulled into any major conflicts involving the Republic.

Legends/Canon: The Soikan are exclusive to Star Wars Canon, being introduced in media from The High Republic.

Unexplored: We still know very little about the Soikans, but there are a few avenues regarding their lore that have already been set up for an interesting deep dive! What originally started the Soikan Conflict, and what continues to spur it on? How many Soikan factions exist on Soika? When were they discovered by the Republic, and did they hold a seat in the Senate? Why haven’t we seen any in an era outside of the High Republic? And of course, what are some unique aspects when it comes to their general worldbuilding traits such as origins, evolution, history, civilization, society, government, politics, economy, exports, arts, philosophies, religions, traditions, practices, habits, relationships, advancements, etc.?

Additional Notes: There’s not a whole lot to say about the Soikans at the moment. I’m sure we will get more soon (and if we do, I will update this article), but until then I don’t have many positive or negative thoughts. At this point, incredibly near-Human species are a tad tired, but the reflective skin is a nice and unique touch. So we’ll just say I’m sort of neutral on the Soikans for now, but do want to see more of them in future High Republic media to see if there’s more interesting aspects to the species aside from what we’ve currently seen so far!
