Name: Boosodian
Humanoid: Yes
Classification: Alternative
Homeworld: Boosodia
Coloration: Gray, Red, Pink, or White
Biology: Boosodians had a very unique appearance, anatomy, and biology. They usually stood anywhere from 1.7 to around 1.9 meters in height, around the same general average for most humanoid species, however, they could be slightly taller and were definitely relatively thicker, sporting both wide legs and feet. Their arms were fairly long, and boasted large, three-fingered hands. Their skin was generally light or dark gray, often times with blue undertones, as well as pink or red highlighted locations, primarily on their face. Said skin was lumpy and wrinkled, especially folded around their neck area. Their backs were usually stuck in a hunched posture, and their necks were wide and often essentially indistinguishable from their torso area and lower head.
Their chins were also large and wrinkled, and were attached to their massive heads. The heads themselves displayed a total of twenty eyes, ten on each side, which had no eyelids and were either a glossy yellow or gray color, although small, black pupils were still noticeable within. These eyes could be moved independently or all together, depending on how the Boosodians wanted to see. Their mouth was small and downturned, and their lower jaw was more of a fleshy flap than an actual jaw. They also lacked a nose, although there was one large slit running down the middle of their face and forehead, separating the two sets of ten eyes, which functioned as a nostril. Some Boosodians also had red patterns surrounding each eye and meeting near their mouth, although it’s unclear if other facial patterns existed as well.
The most unique aspect of the Boosodian species was their ability to see almost anything on the electromagnetic spectrum. They could easily observe various types of x-rays, and could apparently see radio waves as well, although they had a much harder time focusing on those. Aside from radio waves, however, their abilities were so refined that they could choose to single out and perceive precise portions of the spectrum, observing them for any number of reasons. This was very rare among sentient species, and highly valued among other species who sought out their service. The species seemingly had the capacity to speak Galactic Basic Standard, as well as at least one yet unidentified native tongue.
Lore: While we do know the Boosodians originated from the Inner Rim world of Boosodia, we know next to nothing else about the collective species’ lore at the moment. It is worth noting that almost every instance seen throughout the universe has belonged to some sort of criminal profession, whether that be swindler, forger, or criminal market salesman. It’s not a concrete indication of the species’ general characterization as of yet, but it possibly lends hints to the idea that many members of the species had a proclivity for crime due to any number of possible of factors, or they were generally brought or even forced into the professions by non-Boosodians given their unique, and potentially beneficial, set of anatomical skills. At the very least, we are aware that the species was discovered sometime prior to or likely before the High Republic era.
Continuity: Boosodians only exist within the current Star Wars Canon, being introduced within the 2019 film, “Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.”
Unexplored: There’s not a whole lot to go off of at the moment, so the best exploration you can probably do is speculate about their race as a whole. After exploring their general economy, society, traditions, culture, history, etc., dive into things like how they utilize their extraordinary sense of sight. Do they treat it as a blessing or a curse? Does it allow them to better defend themselves, see enemies coming, and possibly be a strategic asset on the battlefield? Why did they evolve with this ability? What is their homeworld of Boosodia like, and does it possibly contain dangerous x-ray or gamma fields that only they can see and navigate around? How does their brain handle processing a maximum of 20 points of view at the same time? There are definitely some creative routes you can take a Boosodian character, should you explore answers to the above questions, as well as our usual list of generic worldbuilding traits!
Additional Notes: I actually wasn’t the biggest fan of this species when we were first introduced to them, and to be honest, I have no idea why now! The original notes section I wrote for this article was rather pessimistic, and upon revisiting it years later, I ended up scrapping the whole thing and rewriting it from scratch, which is what you’re reading now. So yes, while other species have possessed similar traits to the Boosodians in the past, they’ve never been brought together quite like we see here! As this species continues to appear in more and more media, my affection for the design continues to grow, and thus, I highly encourage you to take what we have so far here and utilize it in your next fan work (or official one if I have any… “licensed” readers). There are some fun concepts here that could lead to even more fun perspectives and story bits just waiting to be fully realized!

I’d imagine they’d have a culty society, using their complicated vision in alchemic rituals. like nightsisters but more eccentric, probably located in the unknown regions or deep core.
