Biology: The Vindar were your stereotypical sentient insectoid species. They were approximately the same height as an average human and were covered in a cream-white colored exoskeleton. They were a thin species, with segmented limbs and two sets of arms, attached directly on top of one another. Their exoskeleton was also segmented, with a thick carapace and extended abdomen. Their head was shaped almost like a Stormtrooper helmet, and they had large mandibles and black, compact eyes. They also either possessed some form of natural energy manipulation that manifested in purple clouds and beams emanating from their hands, or some sort of unidentified technology or cybernetic implant caused this strange phenomena.

Lore: The Vindar were a very selfish race by nature, and cared little for things that did not directly involve their individual wellbeing or wellbeing as a species. They were native to, or possibly colonized, an unidentified planet that was gray and rocky and nearly void of any vegetation. They shared this world with another species that the Vindar oppressed and referred to as the “Squidge,” a derogatory term to them. The Vindar despised the Squidge for their primitiveness, however, they themselves were not very advanced by galactic standards. They still relied on rudimentary tools, weapons, and technologies to achieve their own means. The Vindar found pleasure persecuting any non-Vindar, and enjoyed wiping any evidence of culture, history, or acknowledgement of any species they came across. It is unclear when exactly they began their small-scaled conquests, or even when they gained sentience, but we’ve only ever seen them after 100 A.B.Y. (well after the Yuuzhan Vong Invasion and the rule of Darth Krayt’s Empire).

Legends/Canon: The Vindar, and by association the Squidge, are exclusive to the EU and all of the post Yuuzhan Vong content (and even then, they may or may not have been within continuity of the primary Legends timeline(s)).

Unexplored: Anything prior to their only appearance far into the future of the Legends Star Wars universe is completely unknown. And even when they do appear, not much actual information is gleaned about their lore. Where did they originate, was the homeworld of the “Squidge” also theirs, or were they simply colonizers? Does the greater galaxy know about the Vindar, and are they some renowned conquerors or more along the lines of a pitiful excuse for insectoid warriors? What was the root of their intense hatred for all things non-Vindar? Was it based off of some event in their past, or simply due to their own primitive understanding of the galaxy? Was traditions or societal norms did the Vindar have, and what caused them to attempt to destroy the culture of others? Finally, was their economy based off of some sort of export, or did they simply rely on plunders and raids to support their species?

Additional Notes: Nothing much to note about the Vindar. Their ihead’s intentional resemblance to Stormtrooper helmets is somewhat interesting, but they were clearly only intended to exist within the one story they are featured in (the same story where they finally destroyed/killed C-3PO for a goof, I might add). The canonicity of this story even within the greater Legends timeline is highly debated, as the collection it’s featured in consists primarily of non-Canon short comics, so the species really does hold a strange and special part among established Star Wars lore. If you wanted to add them or a very similar species, I think you could probably make something of the armor-like design and multiple arms, so be created and have fun with them!
