Name: Lowen
Humanoid: Yes
Classification: Near-Human
Homeworld: Low’n
Coloration: Tan
Biology: The Lowen were a human-like, but still very unique looking species. They had the general body shape, build, height, and even pigmentation as a Human. They did, however, have long, branching fleshy lobes of varying size and length extending from the back of their heads as well as their shoulders, back, and chest.
They had abnormally long necks, as well as smooth, hairless skin. They lacked any visible ears or noses, although they had slight extrusions where those features would be on a human. Their eyes were very thin, and they lacked eyelashes or eyebrows. The top of their head was segmented and split off into five sections: two large lobes, two medium sized lobes, and a bundle of much smaller head tendrils. The purpose of a Lowen’s lobes and tendrils is technically unknown, although it is presumed that they utilized them to both hear and smell (or the equivalent of that using extrasensory organs).
Lore: Not much was ever revealed about the Lowen. Low’n was a smugglers hive covered in spaceports and sporting a very high crime rate. The Lowen were affected by this in different ways, some despising what had happened to their homeworld while others completely embracing this new, criminal way of life. That is all we ever learned about the species.
Legends/Canon: The Lowen are not Canon.
Unexplored: As you can tell from the four sentence “Society” section above, next to nothing was ever designed as far as Lowen lore is concerned. The first thing we need to do is establish the history of Low’n. What was it like before all of the spaceports were built? Was the planet forcefully colonized, or did the Lowen initially invite offworlders onto their homeworld? How long did it take before it gained the degenerate reputation that it was known for by the time of the Galactic Civil War? How profitable are these spaceport cities for the Lowen population, and do they have any other industries like tourism or a galactic monopoly on a specific resource?
Were many Lowen found throughout the galaxy? Were they ever a part of the galactic landscape or politics, and did they ever side with any faction during a major war? Were they under the Republic’s, and later the Empire’s, jurisdiction, or were they always independent? What did the average Lowen citizen think of the direction their planet has headed? Were there many Lowens left, or had their population diminished as the immigrant population increased on Low’n? Were there an unusually high number of Lowen criminals? And did they have any long lasting traditions or cultural practices that set them apart from other humanoid/near-human species? Finally, what do they look like
Additional Notes: There’s an interesting concept and design here, but it was never really brought to fruition. If someone wants to tackle that undertaking, I would be 100% behind it!
