“Do you hear it?”
Metal clattered under foot as the group of hunters began closing in on their quarry.
“There’s a room up ahead.”
The dense rubble posed no obstacle, as the smaller wires were quickly brushed aside, and the think, rubbery cords were sliced and trampled.
“We’re close now, boys.”
The predator would soon become the prey.
“There she is…”
Kroe’Draba’Gechi, Lyonel Merillion, and Muroi Von burst through the doors onto the bridge of the old, wrecked Venator-class Republic cruiser. The mercenary team had been chasing their bounty for weeks, and had finally cornered her on the war torn world of Mygeeto.
The cloaked figure turned in shock, dropping a vile of liquid onto the ground. Kroe looked around as he realized the entire bridge had been converted into a makeshift laboratory. However, Dr. Sionver Boll’s days of science and research were over.
The small Bivall woman had been accused of creating a bio-weapon that had recently been responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of innocents. And someone pretty powerful had contracted them to finally put an end to all of her lethal experiments.
“Fellas, fellas, I don’t know what you’ve come here for, but we can come to some form of an agreement, right?” Dr. Boll said, throwing her hands out in protest to their raised weapons.
She moved her left hand towards something on the table beside her, and that was all Kroe had needed. His rapid fire repeater made quick work of the doctor, riddling her body with holes and sending her flying against the far wall of the old cruiser.
“We aren’t here to negotiate,” he said, lowering his blaster.
“You’re brutal, man,” Muroi said as he walked over to examine the doctor’s corpse.
“No,” Lyonel said, looking at the hardened Drabatan mercenary.
“He just doesn’t hesitate. That’s what makes him such a valuable asset, and probably why we got this job in the first place. You should be taking notes.”
Kroe smiled in satisfaction. He had lived up to his word. He would make his family proud. And someday.
Maybe someday…
He would finally be a part of the clan again. Part of his family again.
But he had a lot of work to do until then.
